My name is Magnus, and I am a researcher in engineering physics. In my daily work, I lecture at Mid Sweden University while also offering my expertise through consultancy services via my company, Hummelgård Scientific AB. This has enabled me to extend my services beyond academia into the business and entrepreneurial sectors. I have been providing these services since 2013. Starting in 2027, I will retire from academia to focus exclusively on consultancy work.

My expertise stems from a research career centered on extensive experimental work with advanced measurement techniques in materials physics. I earned my PhD in 2009 with the thesis “In-situ TEM Probing of Nanomaterials” and achieved docent (associate professor) status in 2022. Through this work, I have developed strong experience in electronics, computerized measurement systems, problem-solving, and troubleshooting — ranging from large, complex instruments such as electron microscopes to small, purpose-built, and hand-made measuring units and control systems. I specialize in electron microscopy and have worked extensively with TEM, SEM, and AFM instruments over the past decade, not only as an operator but also in repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and as lab manager.

My key advantage is my broad experience, which spans experimental physics, technical skills in measurement instrument fabrication, project management, customer relations and sales, and entrepreneurial development. I am equally comfortable with in-depth technical topics and specialist applications as I am with end-user and business-related matters. Historically, my consultancy has spanned mostly technical development of scientific instruments but also as expert opinion in data analysis and scientific measurement related questions.

As a scientist, I bring international experience and have consistently worked in diverse project-oriented environments. I thrive on challenges and consider myself a creative professional with a strong business mindset.
